Farmyard or Farm
Beyond the Pussort wing lies the former farmyard, opening onto the park on the left. Comprising two courtyards after the creation of a middle wing in the mid-18th century, it housed the stables and various services of the estate (saddlery, blacksmith shop, foundry, bakery, washhouse, etc.). On the right, in a former shed, is housed the remarkable motorboat Suzette II, built in 1902, one of the masterpieces of the castle. It splendidly testifies to the tastes and lifestyle of the Argenson family at that time. The room also preserves other precious witnesses to the history of the castle: two Doric columns from Charles de Wailly’s former portico. These are valuable and unique remnants of one of the architect’s major works. The upper part of the columns was curiously placed in the basement in the 19th century.
